Aide et Action
International initiated the project in the Tsunami disaster prone areas in Sri
Lanka in 2008. The organisation work in partnership and directly in about 25
villages, and assist members from the community, to re-start businesses that
were destroyed. The projects are supported by the United Nation Development
Programme(UNDP).
In Sri Lanka, Aide
et Action International has also initiated the livelihood education programme
called the iLEAD. Targeted to the poor youth of the slums and war affected and
disaster prone districts in Galle, Colombo, Trincomalee, Vavuniya and Jaffna,
iLEAD Sri Lanka provides vocational training to help them secure an entry
level job in the market. The training helps them to enter into the mainstream
and leads them towards a decent life. It focuses on trades like ITES, Hospitality,
Automobile, Customer Relation, Spoken English, Printing and Networking, DTP,
German Language and Tourism Guide and Electrician.
