In the South Asian countries of India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal, migration is rampant, with 30 million seasonal migrants in India alone. Factors such as poverty, failure of government entitlements, conflicts and disasters, poor economy and growth, and unemployment force people to leave their villages in search of livelihood.
Aide et Action International South Asia (AEAI-SA) makes a difference by addressing the educational needs of the children of migrant families. AEAI- SA has been working on national policies for migrant workers, who suffer poor quality of life at the source and destination- with little assurance of nutrition, hygiene and sanitation.
